Springfield resident earns kinesiology graduate degree

Makenzie Payton Driggers of Springfield was among the more than 8,000 candidates for graduation in the University of Georgia's Class of 2025.

Driggers earned her MS in kinesiology. The graduate commencement ceremony was held May 8 at Stegeman Coliseum.

"We are proud to celebrate the accomplishments of our University of Georgia students in the Class of 2025," said President Jere W. Morehead. "Commencement is a meaningful tradition that allows students, families and friends to reflect on the hard work and perseverance that brought them to this moment. We look forward to seeing the many ways these graduates will continue to make a difference as alumni of the University of Georgia."

Paige Carmichael, Josiah Meigs Distinguished Teaching Professor and University Professor in the department of pathology, delivered the address at the graduate ceremonies.

Epperly graduates cum laude from LaGrange College

Benjamin Z. Epperley of Springfield graduated cum laude from LaGrange College with bachelor of science degrees in mathematics and biochemistry.

Georgia’s oldest private institution of higher learning, LaGrange College is a four-year liberal arts and sciences college affiliated with the United Methodist Church. LaGrange offers more than 50 areas of study with an emphasis on global engagement and service.

Rebel alum named to Dean’s list

Murphy Boyett of Guyton was recently named to the LaGrange College Spring Vice President of Academic Affairs’ List. To be eligible for this honor, students must maintain a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.6 while taking a minimum course load of 12 hours.

Boyett graduated from ECHS in 2024 and was a standout player on the Rebel volleyball team.

Guyton resident named to Dean's List

Junelys Cuevas of Guyton was recently named to the Dean's List of Lincoln University in Jefferson City, Missouri, for the spring 2025 semester.

The Lincoln University of Missouri Dean's List comprises full-time undergraduate students earning a minimum term GPA of 3.00, excluding grades in courses that do not carry credit toward graduation.

Lincoln University of Missouri is a historically Black, 1890 land-grant, public university that provides educational opportunities to a diverse population within a nurturing, student-centered environment. Lincoln is known for its innovative undergraduate and graduate programs in agriculture, business administration, criminal justice, elementary education, nursing, guidance and counseling, and natural science. Lincoln University was founded in 1866 by the men of the 62nd and 65th United States Colored Infantries and their white officers for the benefit of freed African Americans.
