Effingham County Routs Greenbrier 42-17 to Boost Playoff Push

SPRINGFIELD, Ga. – After a scoreless first quarter, Effingham County erupted for 42 points to defeat Greenbrier 42-17 on Friday night, solidifying its playoff position in Region 1-5A.

Quarterback Tucker Perkins sparked the Rebels’ offense, rushing for one touchdown and throwing three more — two to Trayvis Hunter and another to Noah Reese. JR McKenzie added a 14-yard touchdown run to cap the scoring.

The defensive highlight came midway through the second quarter, when Jernard Albright intercepted a pass and returned it 109 yards for a touchdown, helping Effingham County take a 14-3 halftime lead.

Effingham County improves to 6-2 overall and 5-1 in Region 1-5A, while Greenbrier falls to 2-6 and 1-5.
