GUYTON, Ga. — South Effingham flipped the script on its crosstown rival Thursday night, defeating Effingham County 2-0 (25-15, 26-24) at the Rebels’ gym to avenge three losses in 2024.
Morgan Stringer paced the Mustangs with seven kills, while Clara Vorel chipped in six.
Effingham County grabbed a quick 5-2 lead in the opening set before South seized control with a 13-4 run to pull away.
The Rebels controlled much of the second set and were on the verge of forcing a decisive third, leading 24-23. But the Mustangs fought off set point and rattled off the final three points to close out the match.
South improved to 7-5 on the season, while Effingham County slipped to 4-3.
