The 2009 Chevy Cal Ripken Youth Baseball Clinic was held on April 3 at Sandhill Complex. The clinic was hosted by Tommy Arden and Fuller Chevrolet, along with Effingham County Recreation and Parks.

More than 60 boys and girls from Effingham County and surrounding areas participated. The Cal Ripken staff was comprised of former college baseball players throughout the East Coast.

The clinic, sponsored by local Chevrolet dealers, was free of charge with each participant receiving over two hours of instruction, a post clinic snack as well as a T-shirt.

A second clinic was held the following day in Port Wentworth.
