ECHS Softball Tryouts
Tryouts for the Effingham County High School softball team will be Aug. 1, 3 and 4 from 3:30-6 p.m. Anyone interested in trying out needs to be present all three days to be considered for the team.
 
Velocity Arm Care
The Savannah Chain Baseball Academy is hosting three Velocity Arm Care Program sessions in the fall. The Velocity Arm Care Program goals are to develop arm strength, while teaching the fundamental pitching/throwing mechanics and promoting proper arm care to insure the health and safety of all participants.  An average of a 3 to 5 mph increase has been documented throughout the six-week program. The program is not only for pitchers, position players’ benefit from the program as well. Doug Wollenburg, head baseball coach at the Savannah College of Art and Design, is the instructor for the program. The first session begins the week of Aug. 16. The program is for ages 10-adult. Each session runs for a period of six weeks, with two workouts per week for an hour and a half per workout. Scorpions Tryouts
The 13U Scorpions are holding tryouts for fall 2009/spring 2010. Players can’t be 14 years old before May 1, 2010. Tryouts will be held Aug. 1 and Aug. 8 at Pineora Ball Park (off Honey Ridge Road) at noon. For questions, please contact Mike Pittman at (912) 220-7954.

Effingham Outlaws
The Effingham Outlaws are looking to expand their roster with a few dedicated players who are interested in playing on a competitive level. The team is moving up to 9U and transitioning to live pitch. If interested, call Aaron Jordan at (912) 658-8749.

Chain Fall Baseball
The Chain Baseball Academy is accepting registrations for its 2009 fall baseball program. The fall baseball league will consist of 18U (grades 9-12) teams that will play double headers on Saturdays. Chain also will have a fall showcase team that will play at different colleges. Deadline for registration is Aug. 28. An instructional league also will be offered for players’ ages 9-14.
