ECHS celebrates National FFA Week

Effingham County High School FFA celebrated National FFA Week Feb. 28-March 5. “Infinite Potential” was the theme this year.

More than half a million members around the nation participated in National FFA Week activities at the local and state levels.

The focus of National FFA Week was to tell America about the great opportunities available for all youth. From its beginnings in 1928 as the Future Farmers of America, the National FFA Organization today reaches out to all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. FFA is committed to developing character and leadership skills and preparing members for a lifetime of civic leadership and career success.

As a part of National FFA Week, ECHS FFA members planned the following special events:

• Member Appreciation Day

• Faculty and Staff Appreciation Day

• Daily trivia for members

• FFA Spirit Day

• FFA monthly meeting

• Canned food drive for the Harvest for America Food Drive held at the state FFA convention

National FFA Week is sponsored by Tractor Supply Company and Carhartt as a special project of the National FFA Foundation. The Foundation is the fundraising arm of the National FFA and supports programs by working with sponsors to raise funds for

Effingham County High School introduced its new mascot, Rowdy the Rebel, this week. Inspired by popular sports mascots, Rowdy will appear at school events, pep rallies, and games, giving students a fresh way to engage and celebrate school spirit.
