Local students earn honors

Darton State honors three local students

ALBANY — Three students from Rincon received academic honors at Darton State College for the fall 2012 semester.


Jennifer Awesome made the Dean’s List for fall 2012. In order to be eligible for the Dean’s List, students must be full-time and have earned a 3.4 or higher grade-point average.


Deborah Gibson and Faith Kelly made the Merit List. To qualify for the Merit List, a student must be part-time and have earned a 3.4 or higher grade-point average.

AASU’s Chapman earns International Dean’s List

Lauren Ashley Chapman has been honored with membership into the International Dean’s List Society for exemplary academic performance at Armstrong Atlantic State University.


Chapman is majoring in nursing and anticipates graduating in spring 2015.


The International Dean’s List Society provides scholarship, study abroad and online personal and career development opportunities to students from the U.S. and around the world.

Effingham County High School introduced its new mascot, Rowdy the Rebel, this week. Inspired by popular sports mascots, Rowdy will appear at school events, pep rallies, and games, giving students a fresh way to engage and celebrate school spirit.
