Effingham County’s first middle school show choir, “Pizazz,” was created in 2000 when Lowlander Allen taught full time at Effingham County Middle School.

When Ebenezer Middle School opened, Allen taught at both schools and thus The Pizazz Show Choir consisted of auditioned students from both ECMS and EMS.

The current Pizazz show choir consists of pre-auditioned Ebenezer Middle school students, where Allen now teaches full time.

From vocal lessons they receive at school and many hours in after school and Saturday rehearsals, show choir students  are often selected to participate in many District and State choral events such as GMEA (Georgia Music Educator’s Association) District Honor Choirs and Sixth-Grade Statewide Honor Choirs, All-state Chorus and Solo and Ensemble.
The “Pizazz” show choir group has consistently received superior ratings for their performance. The group has performed in North Carolina, Tennessee and Florida.

For each year they have participated, they sent in audition tapes of their performance. The Pizazz show choir was selected to perform at Disney Magic Music Days in 2003, 2005 and 2007 (an honor considering the thousands of choral/show choir groups from across the country who apply and are rejected.)

The show choir sings and dances to music from every genre including broadway, country, jazz and pop. This year’s show features popular tunes from broadway with top hats and all.

The Ebenezer Middle School Pizazz show choir will have its annual dinner theater on March 28 and 29 at the school. Seating for both performances begins at 6:45. Dinner for the evening will be a 10-12-ounce ribeye steak, baked potato, salad, dessert and tea.

The community is invited to a night of dinner and great entertainment by the Pizazz show choir. Tickets are available from any show choir member and at the school.
