The Rebel Regiment marching band hosted a debut performance for parents on Saturday.
Effingham County High School band director Joseph Hasty said he has been at the school seven years, and the band has hosted the debut performance every year.
“I thought it was a great success,” Hasty said of Saturday. He said there was a great turnout of parents and the students performing for the first time did a wonderful job.
He said the students began rehearsing July 25.
“It’s been a fantastic year so far,” Hasty said.
He said the program the marching band will perform this year is in five parts. The band performed the first three parts Saturday and will perform the first four parts at the first football game on Friday.
Hasty said the more students perform, the more comfortable they become.
“We’re looking for an even better performance at the first game on Friday,” Hasty said.
He said the band will participate in three competitions, including the Coastal Empire Classic, which is hosted at Effingham County High School.
The band students also will be traveling to Chicago to perform in April.
