Strickland named president of state counselors association

Barbara G. Strickland of Springfield was recently elected president of the Georgia School Counselors Association. Strickland will serve as president-elect for 2011 and will serve as the association president in 2012. The Georgia School Counselors Association is an organization that represents, promotes and enhances professional school counseling in Georgia.
 
The Georgia School Counselors Association (GSCA) is a private non-profit association comprised of school counselors, counseling and guidance directors, supervisors, administrators and other individuals involved in related activities that have an impact on a student’s success and well-being at school, work and home. 
 
Founded in 1949, GSCA has grown to a membership of more than 1,200 members. GSCA members work in all educational settings from elementary through postsecondary education. GSCA has been instrumental in setting professional standards for the school counseling profession in Georgia.
 
Strickland will be representing Georgia and GSCA at the National School Counselors Association Conference and Delegate Assembly in Seattle in July. She will also represent Georgia and GSCA at the ASCA National Leadership Development Institute in July and the ASCA APPI Conference on government relations in Washington, D.C.
