For the second year in a row, Miranda Walker, a fifth grader at Springfield Elementary, won first place in the elementary category of the Live Oak Public Libraries 2011 Savannah Children’s Book Festival Poster Contest. The contest is held each spring and students are challenged to create a poster that may be used in the promotion of the annual Savannah Children’s Book Festival. The festival will be held on Nov. 19 in Forsyth Park.

This year students were asked to design their ideal library. More than 160 posters were submitted in the elementary, middle and high school categories. Public, private and home school students in Chatham, Effingham and Liberty counties submitted their designs. All entries will be exhibited during the month of November at the City of Savannah Dept. of Cultural Affairs S.P.A.C.E. Gallery at 9 West Henry St.

The winners’ designs are now posted on the library’s home page, www.liveoakpl.org.
