(What you won’t find on social media … even if you are approved as a friend)
- Born: Feb. 17, 1998, in Savannah at Candler, but I’ve lived all my life in Guyton
- Status: Not married
- Alma mater: Georgia College & State University (Class of 2019)
- What’s on TV: I don’t watch a ton of TV, but when I do, I’m watching “Friends” for the 27th time
- What I drive: White Ford Explorer
- Favorite childhood cartoon: “Tom and Jerry” reruns
- Small joy that makes my day better: Spending time with my yellow lab, Dolly
- Actress that would play me in a movie: I have no idea, honestly. I feel like any of the main protagonists in a Hallmark Christmas movie would probably work, though. I constantly get told my life resembles a Hallmark movie. The bakery would make a perfect set for one of the movies.
- What I’m reading: I read/listen to books while I work, so there are A LOT. The “Empyrean” series is definitely one of my favorites.
- App I can’t live without (no judgment): Pinterest, for sure. I love looking for inspiration for crafts. I spend a lot of time cooking, making earrings and crocheting, so it's the perfect platform.
- Movie I’ve watched more than five times: “The A-Team”
- Worst habit: Hitting snooze six times before I actually get out of bed. Baker’s hours are no joke!
- On my office walls: I don't have an office, but I have coloring pages from my nephew and little notes from my boyfriend on the walls where I decorate cakes.
- Favorite go-to comfort food: El Ximador in Springfield, especially chips and salsa. My family likes to joke that I have salsa running through my veins instead of blood.
- Superstitions: I don't really have any superstitions, but I do believe that food made from scratch will ALWAYS be better than the store-bought option.
- Most used emoji: The laughing-crying face, for sure. It's just so versatile.
- First job: Cheerleading coach at the Effingham YMCA when I was a senior in high school
- What I like about Effingham County: Effingham is special. It definitely has grown and changed in my lifetime, but it's such a big little town. I am always running into familiar faces, but have also gotten the chance to meet many wonderful transplants to the area. My family has lived here for about 60 years, so our roots run deep, and there is no other place I would want to live.
- Favorite sports team: Not a sports fan, but will always scream “Go Dawgs!” if I happen to see a game
- What song always gets me singing (or dancing): Any classic rock or ’90s country
- Favorite value in others: Honesty and dependability
- Local event I never miss: Ugh! I usually am working late, so I do not attend many events unless it's work-related.
- Something people are surprised to learn about me: I started selling baked goods at 18 to make money in college. Originally, I wanted to be a clinical psychologist.
- Advice I’d give my teenage self: Take more time to enjoy being young. Starting your own business at 22 takes ALL of your free time and most of your sleep. “lol”
- Talent I’d most like to have: I would love to be able to play an instrument. I just never had the patience to learn.
- Dream date: I would love to take cooking classes in Florence, Italy. It was on the agenda when I graduated from college, but COVID put a stop to that trip, and I've been too busy to reschedule.
- Attribute I like best about myself: I like learning how to do new things. Even if I hate the process, at least I tried it and have a new skill.
- And least … My caffeine dependency. I literally cannot function without it. My brain is not awake until I consume at least two cups of coffee. If you catch me at work before I've had caffeine, I’m SO sorry!!!
- My hero: My parents, Kevin and Wendy Porter, have always supported me in everything I do. They have always set an example of how to love your spouse even when you might not be happy with their actions at the time. After 34 years of marriage, they still are very much in love.
- My bucket list: I would love to travel more and work a little less. I am what you might call a workaholic. Here’s to hoping hard work leads to an early retirement so that’s possible :)
- My motto: Bob Ross’ “There are no mistakes, only happy accidents.” I have to tell myself this a lot when a cake isn't turning out how I have it in my head. Once a perfectionist, always a perfectionist.
