Freeport Jazz to perform at Sheraton Four Points

Combining smooth  and contemporary jazz, R&B and jazz standards, the North Carolina group Freeport Jazz is sure to make Sunday at the Sheraton Four Points Swing.

During a recent radio interview the group’s bassist, Scott Marvill said “we found that drawing from multiple music styles such as contemporary jazz, smooth jazz, jazz standards, and R&B gives everyone what they want. Plus there are no self-imposed limits within the band. Our performances are always fresh not knowing what influence will creep into that particular song.”
In fact, what we hear most is the enjoyment of these influences we apply in their songs. This infusion helps with communicating and connecting to the audience.

Started in 1981 by Marvill, this group has recorded and performed with Tower of Power, The Temptations, The Four Tops, Special EFX and Grover Washington Jr.

The concert will be held May 17  at 5 p.m. at Four Points by Sheraton Historic Savannah at 520 West Bryan St. (Bryan and MLK).   The event is free for CJA members and $10 for others.

Attendees who join CJA while at the concert will also be admitted for free.
