New running club hosts first meeting

This chartered running club, which will accept memberships at the meeting Jan. 10, will be a place for area runners to come together and not only train and enjoy the spirit of running but also provide some stability in a structured running organization.

The annual fee will be $35 for members that sign up Jan. 10-17 and you will be part of our charter memberships. Dues will increase to $55 for non-charter members. Membership will include T-shirt, running seminars, weekly-organized runs, discounts to some local races and much more.

At the first meeting, members will do the registrations, decide on a logo for the running club, set the next meeting place, and there will be a short run. There will be a brunch after the run.

The Richmond Hill Roadies, who will be a member of the Road Runners Association of America, will offer something for runners of all ages and will stress the instructional aspect of the sport.

The roadies will not be competing with the running club in Savannah; it will just give runners here an easier way to get involved in running.
