STATESBORO—The Omicron Phi Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. will be hosting their Inaugural GSU Spring Concert on May 1, 7:30 p.m., at the Performing Arts Center, located on the campus of Georgia Southern University. The concert will be headlined by national recording artist, Drake.

Drake known in his earlier years as playing “Jimmy” on the hit show Degrassi, has taken the hip hop/pop music game by storm with the help of his mentor and label head, Lil Wayne.

His fans stretch far and wide. “So Far Gone” is the title of Drakes latest album. Drake laced the entire album with his witty rhymes and a singing voice that Kanye West and half the people in the R&B world wish they had.

His album also featured music sensations Lil Wayne, Trey Songs and Santigold. Drake’s mix of a smooth southern sound and an up north swag have made him one of the must see artist of 2009.

In addition to Drake’s performance, the concert will also feature a performance from Billboard chart toppers, The Get-A-Way Boys. Def Poetry Jams own Basik Knowledge as well as national Apollo winner, vocalist and pianist, Rudy Currence, also will be performing live.

The concert is diverse and family friendly. No matter whether you are into mainstream hip hop, pop, or smooth neo-soul, this concert will definitely satisfy all. This is by far one of the largest concerts to hit the campus of GSU and the community of Statesboro. E93 (WEAS-FM) is sponsoring the event.

Tickets are $25 for balcony seating and $35 for floor seating. Meet and greet packages are also available. Tickets can be purchased from the Performing Arts Center Box Office, Tuesday-Friday 10 a.m.-4 p.m., online at Etix.com or by calling (706) 951-9099.
