Tybee Island will host its annual Independence Day fireworks display Sunday evening, with the first explosion expected at about 9:30 p.m. The official start time is thirty minutes after dark.
The fireworks will be set off from the Parker Pier on Tybee Island’s south beach area, so they will be visible from any of the beaches on the east side of the island, as well as from many homes and cottages west of the beaches.
Frequently declared one of the top beach and vacation destinations in the country, Tybee Island welcomes our visitors from far and wide. However, Tybee Island officials ask that guests please be considerate and dispose of waste and discards responsibly. Trash left on the sands hurts wildlife, damages the environment and can result in a $100 fine. For safety reasons, glass containers are also forbidden on the beach at all times.
On the morning of July 4, visitors are welcome to participate in an annual Beach Sweep clean-up, organized by the Tybee Beautification Association. Volunteers interested in helping with the July 4 Beach Sweep should meet at the Tybee Island Pavilion at 6:30 a.m. on Monday.
