Effingham County Victim Witness Assistance Program Inc. will sponsor Dancing with the Stars Fundraiser on Oct. 1 at 7 p.m. at the Effingham Career Academy.
Community volunteers have been diligently practicing with professional dancers who have volunteered their time to create a dance routine for the event. The community volunteers are Calli Arnold, Dr. James Cornwell, Mayor Michael Garvin, Phillip King, Adam Kobek, Mayor Ken Lee, Commissioner Reggie Loper, Alderman Les Pevey, Heather Sandstrom, and Kia Westmoreland-Reese. Several of the professional dancers are from Savannah Ballroom.
Online voting has been steady at www.dancing.effinghamtheatre.com. Each vote cost $1. All money received through on-line voting goes to Effingham County Victim Witness Assistance Program. Online votes will be tallied in time for the big night then the dancers will be judged by a panel of judges including our own Magistrate Judge Scott Hinson. Votes can also be cast at $1 per vote the night of the event. Awards will be given for the most popular vote as well as the “best dancer.”
Ticket sales are under way at $10 for individual seats. Tables for six are $50 and tables for eight are $70. Call 754-7460 for ticket information or contact one of the stars.
