At the end of the school year of 1949, Pansy Johnson’s fifth grade class from Effingham Academy in Springfield had an end of the school year picnic and swimming party at Turner’s Pool in Springfield. Mary Will Long recalls getting to ride bicycles to the pool if you had them. Julia Rahn remembers picnicking under the pavilion on a day just as school closed for the year.

Thanks to Buzzie Morgan and Mary Will Long for sharing the photos for this and last week’s issues.
