Cotton crop
Above, cotton in bloom in Effingham County. - photo by Photo provided

This is the time of year when the crops are up and farmers are checking things out and hoping for a good crop to gather in the fall. July 4th is a time when families gather for reunions and picnics in days gone by close to home.  Now our families go to lakes and rivers and venture far away on holidays and weekends.

Historic Effingham hopes you enjoyed July 4th and will have a safe weekend. As we celebrate the birthday of our country, please pray for our soldiers who are in harm’s way preserving the freedoms we enjoy today.
