Effingham couples have a new reason to leave the house with Uplifting Comedy Date Night

A new monthly event is providing local couples with a reason to find a babysitter.

Uplifting Comedy Date Night is a clean comedy showcase, with a live band, designed specifically for Christian couples.

“Research shows that couples who engage in fun activities together enjoy deeper intimacy,” Dr. Greg Smalley of Focus on the Family said.

This has proved problematic for conservative couples in the Savannah area where choices are often limited to dinner and a movie.

“What once was fun and invigorating can become a mere routine,” Smalley said.

Beginning on Thursday, Aug. 17, couples can recharge at an all new event at The Stage On Bay.

Uplifting Comedy Date Night is a two hour performance by clean stand-up comedians plus the band, Tell Scarlet.

“Everything from purchasing tickets to parking has been designed to be hassle-free,” Blake Wittenburg, MC for the event said. “We pray that God allows us to bless as many couples as possible.”

This first month’s comedy line-up includes pastors Mark Andrews and Garrett Huxford, rabbi Robert Haas, and clean comics Bill Cooper, Ryan Easterbrooks, and Jericho Walls.

Tickets and more information can be found at ComedyDateNight.com or by searching Uplifting Comedy Date Night on Facebook.
