The Effingham Community Orchestra, Inc. was recently awarded a $1,061.76 Grassroots Arts Program (GAP) grant for their art project entitled “Meet the Orchestra Event and Concert.” Andrea Huff is the grant coordinator and will be responsible for overseeing the project.
GAP funds are from the state legislature and are administered throughout the state by the Georgia Council for the Arts through network partners.

The GCA network partner for Effingham County is the Statesboro Arts Council.

“Andrea Huff did a terrific job on the grant application,” said Tony Phillips of the Averitt Arts Center and  also the GAP regional coordinator. “The advisory board, made up of representatives from all 12 counties in our region, used an objective evaluation form to select their sub-grantees for this year. I congratulate Effingham Community Orchestra, Inc. especially Andrea Huff on their hard work on the grant application and their dedication to advancing the arts in Effingham County.”

Effingham Community Orchestra’s “Meet the Orchestra Event and Concert” will be held on March 21, at 3 p.m. in the Effingham County Recreation and Parks Department Gymnasium on Highway 119.  The event and concert will be free and open to the public.
