Family Connection/Communities in Schools of Effingham County recently presented $2,000 in grants to support two local efforts.
The organization gave $1,500 to Project SEARCH, an employment training program for disabled youth that Effingham County will begin in the 2012-13 school year with 10 students participating. FC/CIS gave $500 each to the local partners in Project SEARCH, Effingham Health System and Effingham County’s two high schools. Effingham Health will offer internships to disabled high school seniors, providing them skills and training to enter the workforce after graduation.
Family Connection/Communities in Schools also presented a $500 grant to the Effingham County Victim Witness Assistance Program, which provides services to victims and witnesses of personal injury crimes such as armed robbery, assault, rape, child molestation, murder and domestic violence.
