Historic Effingham Society celebrated a great anniversary on Sunday November 10th with a good crowd on hand for the afternoon. Thanks to all who brought refreshments, helped with the event and came to take part in our milestone event. Richard Loper did a great job speaking about our history.

Our 2019 Calendar is now available for $5 each. The cover features our 2018 Preservation Award Winner which is the “Wilson Homestead Farm” near Clyo. Other pages feature the Steel Bridge building which housed many businesses including a dance hall, the Edward McIntyre home now owned by Joe Maner of Marlow, Zion Lutheran Church, Marlow School, the Willie Rude Usher home on North Pine Street in Springfield and many more.

Our new Christmas ornament in our collection this year is the Clyo United Methodist Church which celebrated their 200th anniversary last week. Each ornament is $15.

Drop by and buy a few gifts for Christmas. You will find many books and other items for sale in our gift shop in the Effingham Museum. Our hours are Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and by appointment. For further information call 912-754-2170.
