This 22-year-old country singer wished he could have had more time.

Country singer and American Idol winner Scotty McCreery performed a touching song he wrote for his grandfather at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, Tennessee. A video of this performance was posted on YouTube yesterday and currently has nearly 25,000 views.

I wrote this song probably about a couple weeks after I lost my grandfather. We were very close. Hes never heard this song but I know hes watching and very proud of me, the fact that Im at the Grand Ole Opry tonight, McCreery said before he began his song, Five More Minutes.

In the song McCreery sings about the concept of time, and how he wished he had five more minutes to enjoy the precious day-to-day moments that are easily taken for granted in life. His grandfather, who passed away at 86 years old, is mentioned in the last verse. McCreery posted a touching tribute on his Facebook page following his grandfathers death.

He was totally devoted to my Grandmother Paquita for 57 years. Together, they raised three children and were inspiration for their six grandchildren, McCreery wrote.
