It was a cold Christmas Eve in 1914 when British and German soldiers participated in a truce that has been remembered ever since. Now, Sainsbury, a large supermarket chain in the United Kingdom, has released a commercial that reenacts the historic event.

In the video, two soldiers are shown walking toward each other as guns are put down and a truce was made to celebrate the Christmas holiday during World War I. A behind-the-scenes video explains that official records of the event state that goods were exchanged and possibly a game of soccer took place.

The commercial was made in partnership with The Royal British Legion. The chocolate bar shown in the ad can be purchased at Sainsbury's, and all profits will go to The Royal British Legion, helping armed forces and their families, according to the video description.

The video was posted on Nov. 12 and has more than 5 million page views.
