Members of the United Daughters of the Confederacy were said to be present when the original time capsule was placed in the cornerstone in 1909. The Effingham County Hussars 2285, United Daughters of the Confederacy, Georgia Division members are shown attending the recent ceremony to open the time capsule at the old courthouse in Springfield on Feb. 20.
