Instant ticket nets Springfield man more than $377K

Edward Milton of Springfield played the Georgia Lottery and won an instant prize. Milton, 37, played the instant game Red White and Blue 7’s and won a $377,777 top prize.
 
Jay Rincon Food Mart, 5916 Highway 21 S. in Rincon, sold the winning ticket, and Milton scratched it in the store.
 
“I just looked at it and left,” said the father of one teenage son. “I feel pretty good.”
 
Milton, a chemical operator, has plans for his winnings.
 
“I’ll probably travel a bit,” he said.
 
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corp. has returned more than $12.1 billion to the state of Georgia for education. 
 
All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs, including Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia’s Pre-K Program.
 
More than 1.25 million students have received HOPE, and more than 1 million 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
