Special featured guest Bobbie Staten, Motivational Humorist, RN, CSP, will bring her creative and contagious sense of humor to the discussion of women’s health issues with an emphasis on breast cancer awareness during Effingham Hospital’s Lunch, Laugh and Learn event on Oct. 28 at Mill Creek Lodge. Doors open at 11:45 a.m. with lunch served at noon. 

 

October is also Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Items donated by local vendors will be raffled off during the event with all proceeds from the raffle benefiting the Effingham County Health Department’s mammography screening services. 

 

The event is sponsored by Teach Right, Effingham Herald, South Atlantic Miche, B&B Care Services, Effingham Women in Business, and Medicap Pharmacy. Advance tickets are $20 each or $140 per table of 8, and may be reserved by calling Melissa Waller at 754-6851. Credit cards are accepted. Seating is limited. 

 

A former nurse turned motivational speaker, Staten has been making people laugh and helping them find balance in their life since 1986, when she ended her career as a nurse to travel the world encouraging people to take their well being into their own hands. She holds both a Bachelor of Nursing and a Master of Public Health degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
