Savannah SCV chapter to dedicate Lastinger memorial Saturday

The Savannah Militia Camp No. 1657 of the  Sons of Confederate Veterans will conduct a dedication of a memorial marker for Confederate soldier Elias L. Lastinger on Saturday at 11 a.m. at Lower Black Creek Cemetery.
 
The marker for Lastinger (1831-64) will be placed in the plot of his daughter, America L. Davis. Lastinger was killed at the Battle of Peachtree Creek in Atlanta on June 20, 1864. The place of his interment is not known.
 
He was the son of James Lastinger and Annis Lastinger. He married Mary Ann Dugger, daughter of David Dugger. Their children were: Daniel L., married first Sabina Rigdon and then Roxie Campbell; America, married John Green Berry Davis; Mary Jane, unknown; Allen T., died young; Elizabeth (Lizzy), married James A. Overstreet.
