Senior Citizens, Inc., has opened an adult day care center in Effingham County.  Specializing in the care of frail seniors, particularly those suffering from the effects of Alzheimer’s disease, the facility is at 711 Zitterour Rd. in Rincon.

The facility, called the Ruth Byck Center in Effingham, provides a place for seniors to stay during the course of the day and piece of mind for their loved ones.

The mission of SCI is simple: help seniors to age in place.

“For the caregiver, adult day care centers are a place for their loved one to go during the course of the working day,” said Patti Lyons, president of Senior Citizens, Inc.

Lyons said SCI has been providing this type of care in Savannah since 1982.

“The Ruth Byck Adult Day Care Centers help more than 60 clients a day,” she added. “They are safe places with many activities, hot lunches, snacks — it is great care for a senior who cannot be on their own.”

The center in Rincon is open Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Other adult day care center locations include Savannah and Hinesville. Individuals who would like more information can call SCI at (912) 236-0363 and ask to speak with a family advocate.

The mission of Senior Citizens, Inc. is to assist with the independent living and overall well-being of all seniors in our community.

For almost 50 years, SCI has worked to provide direct services that allow seniors to remain in the homes of their choice for as long as possible. Services are provided throughout seven counties in southeast Georgia and they include home-delivered meals, transportation, in-home support, senior companions, community centers, and adult daycare.
