Springfield Garden Club announces decoration winners

The Springfield Garden Club has announced the winners in its annual Christmas decoration contest.

Winners in the traditional category were: first place, Tommy Exley; second place, Tommy Arden; third place, Bill Exley. Winners in the fantasy category were: first place, Cynthia Exley; second place, Dennis Webb. In windows, first place went to Ernie Nease and second place went to Max Neidlinger. City of Springfield won first in outdoor tree and Steve Snooks won second place.

Unique Shabby Chic won in the business category, with Aunt Teekie Antiques taking second and Fairy Godmother’s Closet winning third.
JoAnn’s won in the florist category.

Effingham Senior Citizens Center won in the religious category. First place in most original went to 101 Julia Court, Hawk Hammock, and Dale Hinely won second place. For best door, Kenneth Johnson won first place and Lona Webb took second place.

In children’s theme, Don King won first place, Sidney Christain won second and Roy Weaver won third place. Holy Trinity Lutheran Church won first place in the church category, and Springfield United Methodist Church won second place.

Best overall decoration went to Jimmy Sapp.
