ACS to hold annual memorial service Sunday

The annual Effingham County American Cancer Society memorial service at the Effingham County Board of Education Auditorium on Sunday at 2:30 p.m.

Eleven new plaques will be dedicated for display on the Memorial Board in Effingham Hospital.  Plaques come from donations of $50 or more as memorial or honor gifts.  Some on the wall never had cancer, but donations were given in remembrance.  

The following people will be remembered during the service:  Erma M. Bird, Patrick Ryan Childers, Myrtice P. J. Dye, Del O Edwards, Ellie L. Edwards, Kenneth L. Grizzard, Louis Lavaughn Jenkins, Cathy Clary Leaf, James W. Sheffield, Loreta M. Weitman and Jennifer Lewis Yarbrough.

The Effingham County High School marching band has been invited to perform in New York City’s historic 2026 St. Patrick’s Day Parade. This prestigious opportunity marks the band’s largest performance to date, showcasing their talents on a national stage.
