Alderman, Lee qualify for re-election

Incumbent council members Scott Morgan and Levi Scott Jr. have qualified to run for re-election to Rincon City Council.


Morgan and Scott qualified Thursday, and qualifying for the three seats and mayor’s position closes today. Mayor Ken Lee qualified Wednesday to run for re-election.


Christina Shores Ricker was the first candidate to qualify for Rincon City Council, doing so Monday. The seat now held by Frank Owens also is up for election in November.


Springfield Mayor Barton Alderman qualified Wednesday to run for re-election, after announcing late last week that he would seek another full term. Alderman, who served previously as mayor, did not seek re-election in 2009 but was re-appointed to the position last year.


Incumbents Charles Hinely and Kenny Usher qualified to run for their Springfield City Council seats Monday. The other seat up for election is held currently by Katherine Pridgeon.


Qualifying in Springfield’s November municipal election also closes today.
