Alpha Battery of 1/118 Field Artillery Battalion held its monthly drill Oct. 13-14 at the Georgia Army National Guard armory in Springfield.

On Oct. 13, the soldiers had classes in how to set up and properly work a radio, how to select a temporary fighting position, how to advance upon enemy fire and proper field sanitation techniques.

The next morning, Alpha Battery soldiers performed their annual Army physical fitness test, which tests the soldier’s physical performance on push-ups, sit-ups and a two-mile run. A select few soldiers also were re-certified as a combat lifesaver.

Two soldiers were promoted. Dustin Adams was promoted to specialist and Marc Veal was promoted to private first class.
