SPRINGFIELD -- The Effingham County Board of Education had to tend to some business before its first meeting of 2019.

Effingham County Probate Judge Beth Moseley swore in District 1's new member, Lynn Anderson, and District 4 incumbent Beth Helmly. Anderson defeated District 1 incumbent Robert Grant by 21 votes in a July runoff election.

During the meeting that followed, Lamar Allen and Troy Alford were reelected chairman and vice chairman, respectively.
