The Effingham County Fair board of directors and committee are preparing for the 2012 Effingham County Fair, which will be held Oct. 22-27 at the Fairgrounds in Springfield.


This year’s theme is “Where Farm meets FUN.”


For more information, such as the fair book, fair parade applications and fair schedule of entertainment and special events visit www.effinghamcountyfair.org. The fair book also has information about entering items or exhibits.


The fairgrounds are at 200 Zoller Dr. Also for more information, call 754-3031.

A day after a soldier opened fire at Fort Stewart, Army leaders are praising those who stopped the shooter as investigators probe how a weapon made it on base. One soldier remains hospitalized.
