Effingham County EMA has activated its EOC to Operations Level 3 “Monitoring the Storm."

It is staying updated on Hurricane Irma through the National Hurricane Center and National Weather Service. EEMA encourages everyone to stay updated on local forecasts, review their emergency plans and restock emergency supply kits.

Residents with functional, access or medical needs should register with their local health department.

Functional and access needs registrants are individuals who may need services to maintain their independence in a shelter. This includes children and adults with physical, sensory, mental health and cognitive and/or intellectual disabilities affecting their ability to function independently without assistance.

Medical needs registrants are individuals who require support of trained medical professionals. This includes those individuals who may need assistance with managing unstable, terminal or contagious conditions that require observation and ongoing treatment.

The Effingham Co Health Department can be reached at 912-754-6484. For more information on the registry, contact information for additional local health departments, and to access the application please visit www.gachd.org/registry.
