Bruton named interim city manager
Guyton City Council

GUYTON — The Guyton City Council named City Clerk Alison Bruton interim city manager during its Sept. 10 meeting.

Mayor Jeff Lariscy’s recommendation to elevate Bruton to the post was initially tabled after Post 4 Council Member Michael Johnson said that he preferred that the next city council pick the next city manager. Three seats are up for grabs Nov. 8.

Lariscy lauded Bruton’s job performance as clerk, saying, “She pulls pieces together and keeps us running.”

The mayor added, "She is the point person for the citizens."

After meeting in executive session, the board returned and unanimously approved Bruton, who also serves as Guyton’s elections superintendent.

City Manager Daniel Hofman was fired by Lariscy in July.
