Chamber prepares for 25th annual meeting

The Effingham Chamber of Commerce has announced plans for its 25th annual Chamber Meeting on June 9 at Effingham County High School.

“This is going to be a memorable annual meeting for our Chamber,” said Chamber President Randy Shearouse. “I hope everyone can come out and join us as we celebrate 25 years of service to Effingham County.”

The Silver Anniversary meeting will be held from 7-9 p.m. and will feature dinner by Chef Nick Mueller.   highlight of the meeting will be the presentation of the Treutlen Award for outstanding community service in Effingham County. The Small Business of the Year Award and Beacon Award for a top local Ambassador volunteer also will be presented on the stage.

The keynote speaker for the evening will be Peter Rivera, original lead singer and drummer for the hit rock band, Rare Earth. His is the distinctive voice you hear when listening to hit songs such as, “Hey Big Brother,” “Get Ready,” and “I Just Want to Celebrate.” Rivera’s autobiography takes you inside the life of a rock and roll legend.

Following Rivera, the Chamber will present awards to this year’s Leadership Effingham class, the Members of Distinction, and others. Alice DeForest will be presented a plaque as a retiring Board member.
