Concerned about lower consumer spending this holiday season, Effingham County retailers are trying to lure holiday shoppers with huge discounts of up to 75 percent and buy one, get one free specials Dec. 5, as part of the Effingham County Chamber of Commerce Holiday Business Tour.

More than 20 participating Effingham County retailers have signed up for the Holiday Tour in what promises to be the annual event’s biggest year ever.

Georgia Bulldog merchandise, name brand luggage, handbags, furniture, Christmas decorations, home décor, children’s clothing and toys, sporting apparel and more are expected to be part of the savings Dec. 5.

Fireflies in Springfield is offering 75 percent off selected merchandise and hosting Santa Claus for the day. Effingham Hardware will be offering specials on Milwaukee Tools and John Deere toys.

Rincon businesses New Life Flowers and Gifts and One of a Kind are offering storewide saving of up to 30 percent and Curiosity Shoppe Jewelers are offering buy one, get one free and discount drawings, just to name a few.

These are just a small sample of the discounts being offered at over 20 retailers, with more to come.

Holiday Tour shopping is easy and open to anyone — just stop by any participating retailer on Dec. 5 and enjoy the saving.

Just for shopping, consumers can enter into a drawing for a free gift basket, which will include a prize from every participating Effingham County business, valued at over $500.

To enter into the drawing, pick up a Holiday Tour post card at the Chamber of Commerce in Springfield or any participating Effingham County bank, beginning Dec. 1.

On top of the large discounts, free food and drinks will be served at Fireflies in Springfield and One of a Kind in Rincon from 5-8 p.m. Tour postcards may be dropped off at either location.
