DaVita-Effingham North Dialysis of Springfield honored Lillian Standefer during National DaVita Village Greeter Week from April 19-24.

Standefer has been a village greeter at Effingham North for five years.

Village greeters greet and visit with patients and family members in the waiting room, help plan theme days and celebrations, read, call Bingo, send birthday cards and hand out educational materials approved by the facility.

Effingham County commissioners honored local youth athletes Tuesday, recognizing the GRPA state champion softball team and state track meet finalists with a proclamation declaring Aug. 9 as “Effingham Champions Day.”
