The Effingham County Chamber of Commerce announces its annual meeting, celebrating 24 years of serving Effingham County. The meeting will be held on June 10 from 7-9 p.m. at Effingham County High School.

The evening will include the presentation of new board members as well as the presentation of the prestigious Treutlen Award, which honors a local citizen for their service to the community. The Beacon Award will also be presented to the ambassador of the year.

Speaker for the evening will be Scott Rigsby. Rigsby has been featured on CNN, NBC Sports, Sports Illustrated, among others, and his life has been documented in the short film, “Unthinkable: The Scott Rigsby Story.” It is a unique story of success and failure that all began when, as an 18-year-old, he was struck by an 18-wheeler and lost both of his legs. It showcases his determination to overcome adversity. In October 2007, Rigsby crossed the finish line in Hawaii’s 140.6-mile IronMan World Championship after 17 grueling hours.
