Weyerhaeuser has been selected as Co-op Student Employer of the Year by the Georgia Tech Division of Professional Practice.
The award is based on undergraduate co-op student nominations that recognize employers for practical experience, technical development and contributions to career decisions and goal setting.
The winning nomination this year came from Benjamin Stensland, a Chemical Engineering and Computer Science major at Georgia Tech. As a co-op, Ben has worked at the Port Wentworth mill and currently is a member of Corporate Technology's Process Information Diagnostics and Control (PIDC) team.
In recognizing Weyerhaeuser, Ben cites the key components of his experience: “A brilliant team of experts and supportive co-workers, working in an exciting field, with assignments ranging from industrial applications to research projects.”
The award was presented April 5 at the Annual Georgia Tech Co-op Honors Banquet, with representatives from Port Wentworth and the PIDC team attending.
In Georgia, Weyerhaeuser employs approximately 1,500 people at locations in Colbert, Columbus, Dacula, Duluth, Griffin, Tucker, Lithonia, Lyons, Madison, Oglethorpe, Port Wentworth and Valdosta.
