The Bohemian Hotel Savannah Riverfront, the latest boutique hotel by The Kessler Collection in Orlando, Fla., will officially open in Savannah on July 24, with a ceremonial ribbon-cutting will take place July 28 at 6 p.m.
This new property, which is the first new hotel overlooking the Savannah River to open its doors in 17 years, complements The Kessler Collection’s successful AAA Four-Diamond Mansion on Forsyth Park, located in the heart of Savannah. Defined by brick and glass architecture, The Bohemian Hotel features nine stories of luxury including 75 guest rooms and suites, concierge service, valet parking and an on-site fitness center.
The hotel also will include a rooftop lounge and restaurant. Rocks on the River, a full-service restaurant on River Street serving breakfast, lunch and dinner, will feature fresh seafood and casual American fare created by Kessler’s award-winning culinary team.
Located at 102 West Bay St., the hotel has the distinction of being the latest property by acclaimed hotelier and real estate developer Richard C. Kessler, chairman and CEO of The Kessler Enterprise, Inc.
“I have always dreamed about opening a world-class boutique hotel on Savannah’s historic riverfront and am thrilled to see that dream become a reality,” said Kessler, who grew up in Effingham County. “Travelers can expect the high-quality accommodations, outstanding service and incredible cuisine they have enjoyed while staying at The Mansion at Forsyth Park or at any of our fine properties.”
Kessler holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Georgia Tech and honorary degrees from Valparaiso University and Newberry College. He was the president and chairman of Days Inn of America for nine years before forming The Kessler Enterprise, Inc. in 1984 where he has served as Chairman and CEO for 25 years.
He also has been a supporter of the New Ebenezer Retreat Center and the Treutlen House.
With a premier location overlooking the Savannah River just steps away from the city’s finest shops, restaurants, art galleries and attractions, The Bohemian embodies classic Southern charm and hospitality. The hotel’s new construction and brick façade echo River Street’s historic riverwalk, where shipping and the cotton trade once dominated.
The Bohemian Hotel’s contemporary design, which was approved by Savannah’s historic review board, features a vintage allure that recalls the era when British settlers first landed on the bluff above the Savannah River in 1733. Custom-made guest room furnishings include elements of British campaign furniture fitted with finely grained wood, brass and leather.
“We paid respect to Savannah’s rich history throughout the design of The Bohemian Hotel,” said Mark Kessler, senior vice president of Marketing and Business Relations for The Kessler Collection. “The Bohemian boasts the same attention to detail as our other hotels. From the architecture to the design, The Bohemian will set a new standard of excellence along Savannah’s riverfront.”
The Kessler Collection’s hotels are acclaimed for their world-class collection of original art. In keeping with that tradition, the Bohemian will showcase a wide range of international art, with Miami painter Alexander Gore serving as the property’s featured artist.
Each guest room features luxury bedding and linens, high-definition television with Roomlinx interactive media and entertainment system, high-speed wireless Internet connection and views of the Savannah River or the city’s National Landmark Historic District.
Guests staying at The Bohemian can enjoy world-class amenities at The Mansion on Forsyth Park and charge everything to one bill. For example, a guest staying at The Bohemian can enjoy spa services and dinner at The Mansion, with those charges appearing on a single bill at check-out. In addition, guests at The Bohemian enjoy free shuttle service to and from The Mansion at Forsyth Park.
“The Bohemian is a spectacular hotel nestled along one of the most beautiful riverfronts in the United States,” said Mark Kessler. “With exquisite accommodations, remarkable attention to detail and incredible on-site dining, The Bohemian truly offers the very best of Savannah.”
