A 9-year-old Effingham County boy has died after being shot Thursday night at a home on Zittrouer Road.

Landry Oliver of Guyton was pronounced dead at Memorial Health University Medical Center Friday afternoon, according to Effingham County Sheriff's Office spokesman Detective David Ehsanipoor.

An autopsy will be conducted Monday at the Georgia Bureau of Investigation crime lab, Ehsanipoor said.

The shooting occurred around 7 p.m. Thursday at a home in the 1000 block of Zittrouer Road. The boy, a student at Marlow Elementary School, was flown by LifeStar helicopter to Memorial.

"This appears to be an isolated incident and there are no initial signs of foul play at this time," Ehsanipoor said.

Additional details have not been released. The Herald will have more information here and on Twitter and Facebook as it becomes available.
