Christmas parade, Dickens festival approaching

The Lions Club Christmas Parade and Dickens Craft Festival are a few weeks away. The events will take place on Nov. 17 in Rincon. The parade will be at 10 a.m., the Dickens Craft Festival will run from 9 a.m.-4 p.m.

The craft festival will be in the parking lot of First Baptist Church in Rincon. Many different types of crafts will be featured. To date, they already have registered booths that will feature candles, Bonehead Bakery: cookies for your pets, flower arrangements, painted glass ornaments, Christmas wreaths, centerpieces, heirloom embroidery items, pillows, jewelry, cakes in a jar, hand-painted pottery, paint your own Christmas ornaments, wood crafts, Italian charms, homemade soaps, scroll saw wood crafts, silver and 14 karat jewelry designs and gift baskets.

Food vendors that have registered include ones for hot dogs, homemade Brunswick stew, cookies, cakes and funnel cakes.

The deadline for craftsman and food vendors is Nov. 1. Applications can be picked up at First Baptist Church of Rincon, 201 E. 6th St.

Friends of Manna House is fundraising in August to renovate the busy food pantry parking lot. The community is invited to shop donated décor and support the project.
