Effingham County commissioners are waiting on the results of a special audit on the Keep Effingham Beautiful account.

Donald Caines, whose firm conducted the county audit, was chosen in May to audit the account. Caines said he would undertake the special audit once the county’s audit was done, and that report was delivered to commissioners in June.

County finance director Joanna Wright said last week that Caines has not received all the information he requested. She believed that some of the information was going to come from the county’s information technology department, and the human resources department also was pulling together information for him.

“My understanding is that he is simply waiting on that last bit of information, and that he had already drafted a report,” she said.
