County commission enacts truck law

SPRINGFIELD  -- The Effingham County Board of Commissioners has approved a new truck ordinance for certain vehicles traveling on county roadways inside of Effingham County.

 The new ordinance prohibits Class 6-13 vehicles from traveling on county roads unless their destination is on that roadway. 

County deputies will be able to cite violators with a fine of not less than $200 and not more than $1,000. 

There are many state routes available for truck travel to include Ga. Hwys 21, 17, 119, 30, 275, Old Augusta Road South, Old Augusta Central,  I-16 and I-95. The board has ordered signs and has been posting them throughout the county.
