Effingham County commissioners are beginning the process to replace its problem-plagued county jail and sheriff’s administrative complex.
Commissioners voted to hire Lott and Barber to help with the selection of a design team to build a new jail. Voters, in their renewal of the five-year special purpose local option sales tax, approved a $16 million new jail project.
“We have the time. Let’s do it right,” said County Administrator David Crawley. “We can do a much better job than we did the last time.”
