Courthouse readied for grand re-opening

A grand re-opening for the historic Effingham County Courthouse is on the calendar.
 
County officials are continuing to try to finalize a time for the event, which will be held Nov. 6. Work on the courthouse project is expected to be completed by Nov. 4. 
 
The courthouse, which opened in 1909 to great fanfare, is on the National Register of Historic Places. It has undergone two previous renovations, one in 1933 and another in 1979.
